What You Will Need
One cardboard paper towel tube
Three reflective mirror craft sheets cut by a grown up
One clear plastic circle
One cardboard circle with a small viewing hole
Colorful beads
Tiny sequins
Small clear plastic gems
Clear tape
Glue
Crayons or markers
Child safe scissors
A grown up to help with the mirror pieces
Step 1
Time to decorate!
Before you build your kaleidoscope, make the outside look amazing.
Draw stars.
Add rainbows.
Make funny faces.
Cover the tube with your favorite colors.
Your kaleidoscope should look just as exciting on the outside as it will on the inside.
Step 2
Now it is time for the secret part.
Ask a grown up to place the three mirror strips together to make a long triangle.
This triangle is what creates the magical patterns.
Carefully slide the mirror triangle into your decorated tube.
Do not shake it.
Keep it nice and straight.
Step 3
Place the clear plastic circle on one end of the tube.
Add a small handful of colorful beads, sequins, and tiny plastic gems.
Do not fill it too full.
The colorful pieces need room to move and dance.
Next, ask a grown up to place another clear cover over the treasures and tape it securely.
Now your kaleidoscope is almost ready.

Now it is time for the best part!
Hold your kaleidoscope up to a bright window or take it outside on a sunny day.
Look through the small viewing hole.
Slowly turn the tube with your hands.
