“Snack time!”
Mia smiled.
A banana was waiting on her plate.
A yellow banana.
A yummy banana.
Mia reached for it.
Then she stopped.
She looked at her hands.
“Oh!”
Her hands had been busy all morning.
They built towers with blocks.
They hugged Teddy.
They opened the garden gate.
They picked up a little leaf.
Busy, busy hands!
Mia turned her hands over.
“They look dirty.”
Dad smiled.
“Who might be hiding on them?”
Mia thought.
“Germs?”
“Yep.”
Germs are very, very tiny.
We usually cannot see them.
They can get onto our hands when we touch things.
Mia made a funny face.
“Tiny germs?”
She looked at the sink.
“Time for a wash!”
Mia climbed onto her little stool.
Turn the tap.
Splash!
Water!
She put her hands underneath.
Splash, splash!
Then she pressed the soap.
Plop!
Soap on her hands.
Mia rubbed her hands together.
Rub, rub, rub!
Bubbles appeared.
Little bubbles.
Big bubbles.
Round bubbles.
“Bubble, bubble, bubble!”
Mia giggled.
She rubbed her palms.
She rubbed between her fingers.
She rubbed her fingertips.
Rub, rub, rub!
“Keep rubbing,” Dad said.
Mia rubbed.
Rub, rub, rub!
She counted slowly.
“One…”
Rub.
“Two…”
Rub.
“Three…”
Rub.
Soon her hands were covered in soft, fluffy bubbles.
Then Mia put her hands under the water.
Swish!
The bubbles slipped away.
Swish, swish!
The soap washed away.
Mia watched the bubbles disappear.
“Bye-bye, bubbles!”
She rinsed until the soap was gone.
Mia grabbed her towel.
Pat, pat, pat!
She dried her hands.
Then she held them up.
“Look!”
Dad smiled.
“Nice and clean.”
Back to the table went Mia.
There was her banana.
She picked it up.
Munch!
Another bite.
Munch, munch!
“Yummy!”
Mia looked at her clean hands.
Then she smiled.
“Ready to play!”
